story featured in LA Times Travel Section |

On Sunday, March 10, 1996, @LA was featured in an article describing a
study
that rated @LA as the best community-based web site in the country,
with over 600 sites surveyed.
The study was performed by a researcher at the NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications)
and presented at the Supercomputing '95 conference in December, 1995.

NetGuide, the preeminent magazine devoted to the web selected @LA
as one of the best on the Web.
NetGuide screened over 100,000 URLs and reviewed more than 50,000 sites
and selected only 5,000 of the Web's best sites for the Platinum Award honor.

HomePC has chosen @LA as one of the top 500 on the
Web in their first Best Web Sites survey (12/96).
The award winners can be seen at
HomePC's site.
The editors of HomePC spent several months scouring the Web
to come up with the top 500 sites in 24 categories. They judged sites on
their design, interactivity, creativity and most important, depth of content.

Lycos Point Survey Top 5% Web Site |

Back in August 1995, @LA was rated by Lycos Point Review
as one of the top 5% of all sites on the Internet. The Point Survey ratings are based
solely on merit as judged by users and reviewers and have been featured in
several national magazines and on CNN.
We encourage you to look at the (very outdated) review of @LA,
We've changed quite a bit since that time, but it's next to impossible to get a re-evaluation.
